MVB F.C.

For many high school students, completing community involvement hours is a graduation requirement. At MVB F.C., we believe those hours can also become an opportunity to learn, grow, build confidence, and discover new skills.

Through the MVB F.C. Youth Volunteer & Coach Development Program, high school students in Mississauga can complete their volunteer hours while gaining hands-on experience in a youth soccer environment.

Our goal is not simply to provide volunteer hours.

We want to help develop the next generation of leaders, mentors, and coaches in our community.

More Than Volunteer Hours

When a high school student joins MVB F.C. as a volunteer, they become part of our soccer community.

Students have the opportunity to work alongside our coaches during training sessions, games, camps, and other club activities. Depending on their experience and comfort level, volunteers may assist with equipment, help organize activities, support younger players, and observe how coaches plan and manage training sessions.

Every student starts somewhere.

For some, it may be their first experience working with young children. Others may already play soccer and want to learn more about coaching. Some may simply be looking for a positive place to complete their required community involvement hours.

Whatever their starting point, we want volunteering at MVB F.C. to be an experience where they can grow.

From Volunteer to Future Coach

One of the most important goals of our volunteer program is to create a pathway toward coaching.

A student may begin by helping set up cones, organizing soccer balls, or assisting younger players during an activity.

As they gain experience, demonstrate responsibility, and become more confident, they can begin learning more about how a coach communicates with players, explains activities, manages a group, encourages children, and creates a positive environment on the field.

Over time, volunteers who demonstrate commitment and an interest in coaching may have opportunities to take on greater responsibilities under the guidance of our coaching team.

Today's volunteer could become tomorrow's coach.

What Can Students Learn?

Volunteering in a youth soccer environment provides experience that goes far beyond the game itself.

Students have the opportunity to develop skills such as:

• Leadership
• Communication
• Responsibility
• Teamwork
• Organization
• Confidence
• Patience
• Mentoring younger children
• Problem solving
• Working as part of a coaching team

These are skills that can be valuable at school, in future employment, in sports, and throughout life.

High School Community Involvement Hours

The MVB F.C. Youth Volunteer & Coach Development Program can provide high school students with an opportunity to work toward their required community involvement hours through participation in eligible club activities.

We understand that students have different school schedules, extracurricular activities, sports, and family commitments.

For that reason, volunteer schedules can be organized based on the student's availability and the opportunities available within MVB F.C. programs.

Students and families can contact us to discuss available programs and determine a volunteer schedule that works for everyone.

Students should also confirm their school's or school board's requirements regarding eligible community involvement activities.

Who Can Participate?

Our volunteer program is designed primarily for high school students who are interested in gaining experience in sports, coaching, leadership, community involvement, or working with children.

You do not need to be an experienced soccer player or already know how to coach.

What matters most is being willing to learn, being responsible, treating others with respect, and bringing a positive attitude.

For students who already love soccer, the program can provide an opportunity to experience another side of the game.

For students who are new to soccer, it can still be an excellent environment to develop confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Supporting Younger Players

One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering with MVB F.C. is having the opportunity to work with younger players.

For a young child, having an older student encouraging them, helping them understand an activity, or simply celebrating their effort can make a difference.

At the same time, our high school volunteers learn something important: leadership is not only about being in charge.

It is about helping others succeed.

That is one of the values we want our future coaches to understand from the beginning.

Learning Alongside MVB F.C. Coaches

Our volunteers are not expected to arrive knowing how to coach.

They learn by participating, observing, asking questions, and working alongside our coaching team.

Through this experience, students can begin to understand how youth soccer sessions are structured, how coaches communicate with different age groups, how activities are organized, and how to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn.

For students interested in becoming coaches in the future, this early exposure can provide a valuable foundation.

Building Leaders in Our Community

MVB F.C. was created with the belief that soccer can be a powerful tool for youth development.

Developing great players matters to us, but so does developing responsible, confident, respectful young people.

Our volunteer program extends that philosophy beyond our players.

When high school students are given meaningful responsibilities, guidance, and an opportunity to contribute, they can begin to see themselves differently.

They are no longer simply attending a program.

They are helping younger children.

They are supporting a team.

They are becoming mentors.

They are learning to lead.

And for some of them, this may be the first step toward becoming a coach.
